The Finance Department is responsible for maintaining and securing the financial activities for the City of Caribou.

This is accomplished by distributing, reconciling, and investing of all City funds and maintaining adequate accounting data to allow for the preparation of financial statements in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles. The Finance Department is also responsible for the processing of payroll and accounts payable for the City. Other duties include collecting taxes, maintaining fixed assets and retaining records of City owned property.

The City operates on a calendar year. Taxes are due and payable on July 1st and interest begins on October 1st. For convenience to our taxpayers, they may participate in our tax club. Payments are made on a monthly basis and must be made on or before the 15th of each month in order to qualify for the "No Interest" benefit. Tax payments can now be made with a credit card through Official Payments Corp. To do so, please call 1800-272-9829. Caribou's jurisdiction code is 2915. A convenience fee will be charged for using this service. The fee is paid directly to Official Payments Corp. The City of Caribou does not receive any portion of this fee.

The City has always carried a healthy Fund Balance and is in exceptional financial position.
