HI. I was stationed at Loring AFB from 1959 to 1961 with the 42 Combat Defense Squadron. I hung out at the Victory Restaurant and went to dances up on the hill, I think it was the VFW hall. I played piano in a band called "The Valiants" at the Outpost Restaurant. We started "Twist Night" on Wednesdays. I dated a very nice girl from New Sweden, Val Bourgoine, who's dad owned a potato farm in New Sweden. If anyone knows her whereabouts or any of the Bourgoine family I would like to say hello and renew some memories of helping out on the farm during harvest. Caribou was a very nurturing experience for me and I wish, in many ways, that it would be possible to live there again.

Hi Caribou, I was stationed at Loring AFB from 1962-1965 and really enjoyed the countryside and the people there. I was born and raised in So. Calif. so it was a total change for me to be stationed in Maine. I played in a band in 1964-1965 called the Lancers and played on weekends at the Outpost which was alot of fun. I was with the 42nd Trans. Sq. during that time if there is anyone who remembers me or was stationed ot the base during those years please respond.

I have lived in Caribou all my life except for the mid 70's to the early 80's. The Army has a way of placing people as far from where you live as possible. I reside with my wife and youngest son. We have preprared for the Winter this year like never have. Mother nature seems to make what we prepare for seem inadequate. We plan to be here for the near future anyway. I have been away from home a considerable amount of time. The desire to return where you were raised is very compelling. We are very concerned about the upcoming State Elections. "TABOR" is a concern and we are hoping it's not approved. It might be the straw that breaks the camel's back if passed. Nothern Maine is not very job intensive. We are not usually complainers but this election is big for us. My wife could be affected greatly if this initative is passed. Vote "No" on question 1!

Currently spending another year among the sun, sand and palm trees in Iraq. Would like to get back up there soon, maybe around the holidays if we can work out the details. I am researching my family tree. My greatgrandparents died in a boating accident on Square Lake in 1937. I am trying to find thier graves but am having trouble locating a Grimes Mill Cemetery, where the newspaper article says they were laid to rest. If anyone knows of this cemetery, adn can possibly go there, i am willing to pay for pictures of thier headstones for my scrapbook. Also, if anyone can give me a map of where this cemetery is...anything. When they died, thier children were orphaned. My grandmother never saw most of her siblings again.

I was an Air Force brat growing up without any roots, until I moved to FF in 1982, and basically grew up on Sam Everette Rd. There, I was able to grasp on to some very special people. I used to drive my neighbors insane by running to their house a million times a day. We would play games and have so much fun!! My friend taught me how to defend myself and in the process I ending up puching him in the nose (by accident). I still claim to this day that he ran into my fist like a nummy. P.S. If anyone ever finds a gold nugget necklace beside the culvert, it's mine OK. I lost it back in the summer of 1986. It was a very special gift that someone got me while they were in Rhode Island. That was the only time that I have ever had a best friend like that. Yes, I was one of the high school kids that came over to Caribou to go "cruisin" on Saturday nights. I worked at the McDonalds for about 3 yrs. My mom lived in Caribou for a few years until moving to Old Town. Thanks for the memories. I still laugh to this day when I think of them.
