In 1977, the City of Caribou established the Caribou Housing Authority as a Department of the City of Caribou, to administer the federal rental assistance program authorized by the United States Housing Act of 1937.

Our authority assist about 2,316 families through the federal rental housing assistance (Housing Choice Voucher, also known as Section 8) program.  All of our funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Our programs are targeted to assist very low, and extremely low-income households.  The vast majority – more than 80% – of our participating households are very low-income families, seniors, persons with disabilities, and the formerly homeless.  Working together with landlords, we strives to provide housing and support services to as many eligible families as possible.

We look forward to working with you.
