Due to the continued necessity to conserve resources, brush removal for 2021 will be limited to one pick up period during May 10th – 13th. Public Works will only make a single pass through the City. Only brush and leaves must be curbside by the morning of May 10th by 6:00 am. Pick up is limited to one load per residence. The crews will only collect in a neighborhood once and will not make multiple passes. Those in rural Caribou must call Public Works to let them know to pick up. Please call 493-4211. Any brush or leaves brought curbside after May 13th will not be removed by Public Works. The City asks for your cooperation to make this removal program as cost effective and beneficial as possible for the continued maintenance of our community. No alternative rain dates are planned.
The Caribou City Council will hold a public hearing, Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 25 High Street, Caribou, Maine. The public hearing is to consider adoption of Ordinance No. 01, 2021 Series, An Ordinance Amending Chapter 13, Section 13-202, Zoning Map. Copies of the proposed ordinance are on file in the City Clerk’s Office and available below.
Comments can be delivered during the meeting via Zoom or submitted via email to the City Clerk (firstname.lastname@example.org) prior to 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting to be read during the public hearing. Comments must include the individuals name and address for the record.

Caribou Utilities District issues consumer notice regarding postcard marketing campaign 04.02.2021.
The Caribou Utilities District has received calls regarding postcards mailed to Aroostook County communities, including Caribou, urging residents to get their water tested due to seasonal changes in the water table. There are no ‘seasonal changes in the water table’ which impact the quality of drinking water provided by the Caribou Utilities District. The District’s water continues to be of the highest quality which exceeds all water quality standards. This mailing campaign is not from the Caribou Utilities District (CUD), and there is no need to get your CUD water tested as a result of this postcard. The postcard only states it is from a company called AERUS and has no contact information.
The City of Caribou is soliciting competitive sealed bids for the sale of the following Tax Acquired Properties. Bids must be submitted in writing in a sealed envelope with the words “Property Bid # __” with the appropriate property # written on the outside of the envelope along with the Tax Map and Lot #’s. Bids must be submitted in Attention to: Finance/Tax Collector’s Office,
Caribou City Office, 25 High Street, Caribou Maine 04736, no later than 2:00 PM on April 27, 2021 and will be opened publicly at that time. All bids must include a 10% deposit of bid amount in the form of a certified check or money order, return address and phone contact information to be considered. Please display your sign near the street to identify your location as an official sponsor! (Signs are scheduled to be delivered on March 11, 2021). New this year, sponsors will also receive a COVID-19 safety poster to display at your sale. This poster will remind patrons to practice safety guidelines.
