The City of Caribou is seeking proposals from qualified assessment firms/individuals to provide annual assessment services for the City of Caribou, Maine, (hereafter, referred to as “City”) located in Aroostook County, for the 2022 assessment rolls. The City is seeking a firm/individual to serve as its assessor’s agent. The scope of work is to provide annual maintenance work in a competent, timely, efficient, cost-effective and customer service-oriented manner. Please see the complete RFP package below.
Deputy Tax Collector/Finance Assistant
The City of Caribou is seeking a qualified applicant for the full time position of Deputy Tax Collector/Finance Assistant. This is a 40 hour per week position with competitive wage and benefit package.
The Deputy Tax Collector/Finance Assistant will work under the direction of the Finance Director and will work with the public daily. The position is responsible for assisting the Tax Collector in collection of numerous taxes, preparing tax liens and maintaining tax records. This position will also involve daily administrative tasks in the Finance Department and will serve as a back up for payroll, accounts payable and some Finance Director duties.
An associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with a concentration in accounting or three or more years related experience is preferred. Applicants should also possess strong computer skills, exceptional public relation skills and be willing to pay close attention to details.

Heavy Truck Operator/Laborer
The City of Caribou is accepting applications for a full-time Truck Driver/Laborer. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; experience or trade certification in heavy truck operation or similar field; and a minimum of a Class-B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes. Compliance with federally mandated drug screening for CDL holders is required by law.

The City of Caribou is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer. Applicant must have a high school diploma, 200-hour police course certificate and will be required to pass the Maine Criminal Justice Academy prescribed physical aptitude test, oral examinations, physical and psychological examination and criminal background check including a polygraph examination. Applicant must hold a valid Maine driver’s license and have an excellent driving record. Any of the following would be a plus: Associate or Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice, Academy Blue Pin or law enforcement experience.

The City of Caribou is presently seeking candidates to add to its roster for Reserve Officers. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED, hold a valid Maine driver’s license with no adverse driving record, and have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT test. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the Maine Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Pre-Service Program. The pay rate for Reserve Officers is $14.00 per hour.
