Caribou Utilities District

The Caribou Utilities District has openings for student summer employment. These positions are for students attending or planning to attend college, are for May through Labor Day (possible part-time beyond), pay minimum wage to start ($11/hr) and do not offer any fringe benefits. Applicants must be 18 years of age at the beginning of work, possess a valid Maine driver’s license, and must pass an employment physical examination. These positions are for projects, laborers and daily physical activity is expected.

The City of Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department

The City of Caribou, Fire and Ambulance Department, is seeking highly motivated and customer service minded individual to join our team of public safety professionals. We respond to over 2,500 calls for service annually providing advanced life support EMS treatment & transport as well as full-service fire suppression, rescue and education services to the citizens and visitors to our community. We are currently accepting applications for an immediate opening in a Firefighter/Paramedic position.

Paramedic Firefighters & Firefighter/EMTs

Our full-time staff is covered under a collective bargaining agreement which includes a competitive wage rate and an excellent benefits package including a 25 year, no age limit, retirement plan.

Minimum requirements include: HS diploma or GED equivalent; Interior Structural Firefighter Certification or equivalent – Firefighter I & II preferred; completion of State certified AVOC/EVOC class preferred; EMT-B license (EMT-P preferred). Application period open till March 6th, 2019.

Ambulance Billing Assistant

The City of Caribou is looking for a motivated person to assist in our Ambulance Billing Department. This is a part time, up to a 29 hours per week position. Snowplow Truck Driver

The City of Caribou is accepting applications for a full-time Snowplow Truck Driver. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; experience or trade certification in heavy truck operation or similar field; and a minimum of a Class-B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes. Compliance with federally mandated drug screening for CDL holders is required by law.

The City of Caribou is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer.  Applicant must have a high school diploma, 200-hour police course certificate and will be required to pass the Maine Criminal Justice Academy prescribed physical aptitude test, oral examinations, physical and psychological examination and criminal background check including a polygraph examination.  Applicant must hold a valid Maine driver’s license and have an excellent driving record.  Any of the following would be a plus: Associate or Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice (education incentive offered), Academy Blue Pin or law enforcement experience.

The Caribou Police Department operates on a 12-hour schedule-3 on/3 off and offers competitive wages with excellent health benefits.  Retirement benefit includes 25-year Maine State Retirement with no minimum age. Reserve Officer

The City of Caribou is presently seeking candidates to add to its roster for Reserve Officers. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED, hold a valid Maine driver’s license with no adverse driving record, and have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT test. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the Maine Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Pre-Service Program. The pay rate for Reserve Officers is $14.00 per hour.
