The City of Caribou, Maine is seeking qualified candidates for the position of City Manager. Caribou has a population of 7,850, a Mayor/City Council (seven members)/City Manager form of government, a municipal budget excluding schools of $9.0 million, and 72 full-time employees. The most Northeastern City in the U.S., Caribou is a full service city and winter and summer recreational area.
The City Council is seeking an individual with strong budget, investment, and financial management skills; experience in public works and solid waste operations; experience in economic and community development activities; and, experience in personnel management and labor relations. Candidates should also possess excellent written and oral communication skills, progressively responsible supervisory and management experience, and demonstrated leadership ability. Municipal management experience and a college degree are preferred, but candidates with comparable work experience and education are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED, hold a valid Maine driver’s license with no adverse driving record, and have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT test. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the Maine Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Pre-Service Program. The pay rate for Reserve Officers is $14.00 per hour.
