Caribou has a population of 7,710, a City Council (seven members)/City Manager form of government, a municipal budget excluding schools of $10.0 million, and 72 full-time employees. The City Council is seeking an individual with strong budget, investment, and financial management skills; experience in economic and community redevelopment activities; experience in operations analysis, personnel management and labor relations; and experience in public works and solid waste operations. Candidates should also possess excellent written and oral communication skills, progressively responsible supervisory and management experience, and demonstrated leadership ability. Municipal management experience and a college degree are preferred, but candidates with comparable work experience and education are encouraged to apply. ICMA certification preferred. Nylander Museum of Natural History
The Nylander Museum of Natural History is looking to employ one (1) year long full-time employee and two (2) ten week full-time workers through the VISTA program. Training is provided along with biweekly stipend, and a bonus or educational award at the end of the work term. Must be 18 years old with reliable transportation.
Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to: Creating education and outreach programs such as theme weeks, mini-camps and other activities; fundraising activities (grant writing skills would be helpful); recruitment of volunteers; public relations including newspaper articles, developing calendars and giving tours.
