Police Officer

The City of Caribou is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer.  Applicant must have a high school diploma, 200-hour police course certificate and will be required to pass the Maine Criminal Justice Academy prescribed physical aptitude test, oral examinations, physical and psychological examination and criminal background check including a polygraph examination.  Applicant must hold a valid Maine driver’s license and have an excellent driving record.  Any of the following would be a plus: Associate or Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice, Academy Blue Pin or law enforcement experience.

The Caribou Police Department operates on a 12-hour schedule-3 on/3 off and offers competitive wages with excellent health benefits.  Retirement benefit includes 25-year Maine State Retirement with no minimum age. Overtime includes regular overtime and special details, including ATV patrols; Homeland Security patrols; Bureau of Highway Safety-seatbelt, OUI, speed and distracted driving patrols; underage drinking enforcement; and others. Reserve Officer

The City of Caribou is presently seeking candidates to add to its roster for Reserve Officers. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED, hold a valid Maine driver’s license with no adverse driving record, and have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT test. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the Maine Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Pre-Service Program. The pay rate for Reserve Officers is $21.00 per hour.
